GIVEN:

  • The area of a rectangular field is 1147/4 m²
  • If the length of the field is 37/2m.

TO FIND:

  • What is the breadth of the rectangular field ?

SOLUTION:

Let the breadth of the rectangular field be 'b' m

We know that the formula for finding the area of the rectangular field is:-

\large{\boxed{\bf{\star \:  AREA = Length \times Breadth \: \star}}}

According to question:-

On putting the given values in the formula, we get

\rm{\dashrightarrow \dfrac{1147}{4} = \dfrac{37}{2} \times b }

\rm{\dashrightarrow \dfrac{1147}{4} \times \dfrac{2}{37} = b }

\rm{\dashrightarrow \cancel\dfrac{2294}{148} = b }

\bf{\dashrightarrow 15.5 \: m = b }

  • Breadth = b = 15.5 m

Hence, the breadth of the rectangular field is 15.5 m

VERIFICATION:

\bf{ \dfrac{1147}{4} = \dfrac{37}{2} \times 15.5}

\bf{ \cancel\dfrac{1147}{4} = \cancel\dfrac{573.5}{2}}

\bf{ 286.75 = 286.75 }
