Given :- The area of a regular hexagon is 50 in² .

To Find :- The length of a side in nearest tenth .

a) 4.4 in.

b) 19.2 in.

c) 7.6 in.

d) 5.8 in.

Solution :-

Let us assume that, length of a side of a regular hexagon is a in .

since regular hexagon contains 6 equilateral triangles .

so,

→ Area of regular hexagon = 6 * Area of an equilateral triangle with sides as a in.

then,

→ 6 * (√3/4 a²) = 50

→ 3√3 a² = 50 * 2

→ 3 * 1.73 a² = 100

→ 5.19 a² = 100

→ a² = (100 / 5.19)

→ a = 10/√(5.19)

→ a = 10 / 2.27

→ a = 4.4 in . (a) (Ans.)
