Area of the triangle = 24 sq cm
Here, base = AC = 10 cm
Let the height be h cm,
We know that
 \frac{1}{2} \times base \times height = area \: of \: a \: triangle \\ here \\ \frac{1}{2} \times 10 \times h = 24 \\ = > h = \frac{2 \times 24}{10} \\ = > \: h \: = 4.8
Answer :- The length of the segment is 4.8 cm

amitgmail: Thanks but here hypotenuse is given as 10 not base
Abhi1803: You need to take it as the base
Abhi1803: Because that segment is given perpendicular to the hypotenuse
Abhi1803: If you think that its only a tringle (not a right angled triangle) then you will find it easier to solve it
Abhi1803: *TIP* Draw the diagram of it

Here, base = AC = 10 cm

Let the height be h cm,

Put the values in the formula, 1/2*b*h.

You will get it

Answer :- The length of the segment is 4.8 cm
