SOLUTION :

The side of the square = 8 cm (given)

The length of the rectangle = 32 cm  (given)

According to the question,

The area of square = area of rectangle

We know that,

Formula of area of a square = $\bf { {a}^{2} }$ unit sq.

[ ∴  in which a is the side of the square ]

and

Formula of area of a rectangle = lb unit sq.

[ ∴ in which l is the length and b is the breadth of the rectangle ]

To  be found :-

The breadth of the rectangle

Area of square = Area of rectangle

⇒ $\bf { {a}^{2} }$ = lb

⇒ $\bf { {(8)}^{2} }$ = 32 × b   [ as the length of the rectangle is 32 cm ]

⇒ 64 = 32 × b

⇒ 64 ÷ 32 = b

⇒ 2 = b

Hence,

The breadth of the rectangle is 2 cm
