Answer:
Area of trapezium=1/2*sum of parallel sides*height
=1/2*68*15
=510
Therefore,area will be 510 sq.m.

The area of a trapezium in which the parallel sides are 28m and 40 m non parallel sides are 9 m and 15 m is 306 square meters

Solution:

Given, lengths of parallel sides are 28m, 40, and lengths of non – parallel sides are 9m, 15m.

We have to find the area of trapezium.

Let, the side lengths be a = 28, b = 40, c = 9 and d = 15.

Now, we know that, area of trapezium is given by

\text { Area }=\frac{a+b}{|b-a|} \sqrt{(s-a)(s-b)(s-c-b)(s-b-d)} \quad \text { where } s=\frac{a+b+c+d}{2}

\text { Nows }=\frac{28+40+9+15}{2}=\frac{92}{2}=46

\text { Now, area }=\frac{40+28}{|40-28|} \sqrt{(46-28)(46-40)(46-9-40)(46-40-15)}

\begin{array}{l}{=\frac{68}{12} \sqrt{18 \times 6 \times(-3) \times(-9)}} \\\\ {=\frac{17}{3} \sqrt{108 \times 27}=\frac{17}{3} \sqrt{2916}} \\\\ {=\frac{17}{3} \times 54=306}\end{array}

Hence, the area of the trapezium is 306 square meters
