the area of a trapezium is 279 sq cm.the distance between its parallel sides is 18 cm and one of its sides is 13 cm. find the other.

let the side be x

area = 1/2 × height ( sum of parallel sides )

279 = 1/2 × 18 ( x + 13)

279 = 9( x +13)

279/9 = x + 13

31 = x +13

x = 31 - 13

x = 18cm
