Define x:

Let one the length of the parallel side be x

The other is x + 16

Solve x:

Area of a trapezium = 1/2 ( a + b ) h

300 = 1/2 (x + x + 16) (15)

300 = 15/2 (2x + 16)

600 = 15(2x + 16)

600 = 30x + 240

30x = 360

x = 12

Find the length of the parallel sides:

one side = x = 12 m

the other side = x + 16 = 12 + 16 = 28 m

Answer: The 2 lengths are 12m and 28m
