GIVEN:

  • The area of a trapezium - shaped field is 630 sq. m
  • The distance between two parallel sides (height ) = 28 m
  • One of the parallel side = 28 m

TO FIND:

  • What is the other side ?

SOLUTION:

Let the another side be 'x' m

We know that the formula for finding the area of trapezium is:-

\large\boxed{\bf{\star \: Area = \dfrac{1}{2} \times (sum \: of \: parallel \: sides) \times height \: \star}}

Here,

  • Height = 28 m
  • One parallel side = 28 m
  • Another parallel side = x m

According to question:-

On putting the given values in the formula, we get

\rm{\dashrightarrow 630 = \dfrac{1}{2} \times (28 + x) \times 28 }

\rm{\dashrightarrow 630 \times 2 =   784 +  28x }

\rm{\dashrightarrow 1260 =   784 +  28x }

\rm{\dashrightarrow 1260 - 784 = 28x }

\rm{\dashrightarrow 476 = 28x }

\rm{\dashrightarrow \cancel\dfrac{476}{28} = x }

\large{\boxed{\bf{\star \: x = 17 \: m\: \star}}}

Hence, the other side of the trapezium is 17 m
