To Find:-

  • Find the length of the parallel side.

Given:-

  • The area of trapezium is 400cm².
  • The distance between the parallel sides is 16 cm.
  • If one of the parallel side is 20 cm.

Solution:-

We know,

  • One of the parallel side is 20 cm.
  • And the area of the trapezium is 400 cm ²
  • Distance between the parallel sides is 16 cm.

\tt{ \: Area \: \: of \: Trapezium \:  =  \:  \frac{1}{2}  \:  \times  \: ( \: a \:  +  \: b \: ) \:  \times  \: h \:  }

Let the other side be " x "

️ ➭ 400 = 1/2 × ( 20 + x ) × 16

️ ➭ 400 = 8 ( 20 + x )

️ ➭ 400 = 160 + 8x

️ ➭ 400 - 160 = 8x

️ ➭ 240 = 8x

️ ➭ x = 240/8

️ ➭ \tt\boxed {{ \: x \:  =  \:  30cm \:  }}

So,

The length of the trapezium is 30cm.

Step-by-step explanation:

area of trapezium =400cm²

perpendicular distance between them =16cm

one of the parallel sides is 20cm

other parallel side =x

area of trapezium =1/2×16(20+x)=400

or,20+x=400×2/16

or,20+x=50

or,x=50-20=30

length of other parallel side is 30 cm
