let the base be 3y and height be 4y

area of triangle = 1/2 x base x height
600 = 1/2 x 3y x 4y
y = 600/6 = 100

height = 400 cm
base = 300 cm

Given

area of triangle = 600 cm^2

ratio of altitude and corresponding base is 4 :3

To find

side and altitude of triangle

solution

Let the common multiple be x

as we know that

area of triangle = 1/2 × base × height

600 = 1/2 × 4x × 3x

600 = 6x^2

x^2 = 600/6

x^2 = 100

x = 10

so base = 4x

= 4 × 10

= 40

altitude = 3x

= 3 × 10

= 30

so base of the triangle is 40 cm & altitude is 30 cm
