Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

Given:

Area of isosceles triangle,

12 cm.

Base,

8 cm.

To find,

Length of equal sides.

Solution:

To find the length of equal sides we need heigth of the triangle.

Calculation:

If area and base of isosceles triangle is given we can find height by using the formula,

2 A/b,

2 12/8,

12/4,

3 cm is the height of the triangle, now if you draw a line at centre of triangle you will get two right angled triangle and in right angled triangle hypotenuse²=base²+perpendicular²,where hypotenuse is equal length and perpendicular is height.

And also the two triangles formed are equal,

So, base will be 5/2,

2.5 cm,

height= 3 cm,

So hypotenuse²=3²+2.5²,

9+6.25,

Hypotenuse²=15.25,

Hypotenuse=√15.25,

3.9 cm

So,length of equal sides is 3.9 cm.

Hope it helps.
