The area of an isosceles triangle is 60 sq.cm and the length of each one of its equal sides is 13 cm.Find its base?

Let base x and altitude p

Area=1/2(x*p)=60

p=120/x

Now applying pythagoras theorem 

(x/2)^2+(120/x)^2=13^2

solve 

x=24, x=10
