Correct Question -

The area of a square is twice the area of rectangle.

If the area of square is 324 square centimetres and the length of the rectangle is 13.5 cm ,

What is the difference between the breadth of the rectangle and the side of the square?

In the above Question , we have the following information -

The area of square is twice the area of rectangle.

The area of the square is 324 square centimeters .

the length of the rectangle is 13.5 cm ,

Solution -

Here ,

The area of square is twice the area of rectangle.

So ,

Area of square is 324 square centimeters .

Area of Rectangle = 2 × Area of Square

=> 2 × 324 cm^2

=> 648 square centimeters .

Now,

We know that -

Area of a rectangle = Length × Breadth

Here , we have the value of the length as 13.5 cm

=> 648 = 13.5 × Breadth

=> Breadth = [ 648 ] / [ 13.5 ]

=> Breadth = 48 cm.

Now , we also know that -

Area of square = a^2

Where , a is the side of the square .

So ,

a^2 = 324

=> a = 18 cm

Now , we have been asked to find the value of -

the difference between the breadth of the rectangle and the side of the square .

=> 48 cm - 18 cm

=> 30 cm........ [ A ]
