The length of each of the parallel sides are 15 cm and 45 cm

Step-by-step explanation:

We are given that  parallel sides of trapezium are in the ratio 1 : 3

let the ratio be x

Parallel sides are x and 3x

Distance between parallel lines = 6 cm

Area of trapezium = \frac{1}{2}(\text{Sum of parallel sides}) \times Height

Area of trapezium =\frac{1}{2}(x+3x) \times 6

We are given that  area of trapezium is 180 cm square

So,\frac{1}{2}(x+3x) \times 6 = 180

4x \times 6 = 180 \times 2\\x=\frac{180 \times 2}{4 \times 6}\\x=15

Parallel sides are:

x = 15

3x=3(15)=45

Hence the length of each of the parallel sides are 15 cm and 45 cm
