Answer ::

  • The length of other parallel side of trapezium is 1.6cm.

Step-by-step explanation ::

To Find :-

  • The length of other parallel side of a trapezium

Given that,

  • The area of trapezium = 34 cm²
  • The length of one parallel side = 12 cm
  • The height is = 5cm

Solution :-

As we know that,

Area of trapezium = 1/2 × ( a + b ) × h

Where,

  • a and b are the two parallel sides of trapezium
  • h is the height of trapezium

Let us assume length of other parallel side as a,

According the question,

➧ 1/2 × ( a + b ) × h = Area of trapezium

➧ 1/2 × ( a + 12 ) × 5 = 34

➧ ( a + 12 ) × 2.5 = 34

➧ a + 12 = 34 / 2.5

➧ a + 12 = 13.6

➧ a = 1.6

The length of other parallel side of trapezium is 1.6cm.

Now, Verification

Area of trapezium = 1/2 × ( a + b ) × h

➧ 34 = 1/2 × ( 1.6 × 12 ) × 5

➧ 34 = 1/2 × 13.6 × 5

➧ 34 = 1 × 13.6 × 2.5

➧ 34 = 13.6 × 2.5

➧ 34 = 34

L.H.S = R.H.S

Hence, Verified !
