let the remaining side be 'y'
area of trapezium=
(1 \div 2)(x + y)height
352=0.5× (25+y) 16
352= 8×(25+y)
25+y=352÷8
y=44-25
y= 19

Given:

The area of a trapezium is 352 Square centimetres and the distance between two parallel sides is 16cm. The length of the parallel side is 25 cm.

To find:

The length of the other parallel side.

Solution:

As we know that in a trapezium having p1 and p2 two parallel sides and 'd' is the distance between two parallel sides, then the area of a trapezium is given by:

area \:  =  \frac{1}{2} (p1 + p2)(d)

Now,

as given,

The area of a trapezium

 = 352 \:  {cm}^{2}

Length of one parallel side = 25 cm

Distance between two parallel sides = 16 cm

Let p be the other parallel side

So,

 \frac{1}{2} (25 + p)(16) = 352

On solving, we get

(25 + p) \times 8 = 352

25 + p =  \frac{352}{8}

25 + p = 44

p = 19 cm

Hence, the length of the other parallel side is 19 cm.
