The area of trapezium shaped field is 540msquare, if the ratio of parallel sides is 7:5 and the distance between them is 18 cm. Find the length of parallel sides.

• please check up the units carefully.., area is in msquare and distance is in cm.

SanyaBhasin: ok thanks
SanyaBhasin: chainednomad can u solve again i m not able to find up your answer
SanyaBhasin: please
Anonymous: Isn't it 3500,2500 ?
SanyaBhasin: my answer is coming 2000
SanyaBhasin: that's why i put it here
SanyaBhasin: it can be wrong as well
Anonymous: Applying in the formula: A = 1/2 * [3500+2500]*18/100 = 1/2 * 6000 * 18/100 = 1*6000*18/200 = 30*18=540 m^2.. verified.
SanyaBhasin: thank u so much

Answer: 3500m, 2500m

Step-by-step explanation:

Area of Trapezium = 1/2 * (sum of parallel sides) * distance between them

Area = 540 m^2

Distance = 18 cm = 18/100 m

Ratio of parallel sides = 7:5 == 7X,5X

540 = 1/2 *(7X + 5X)*18/100

540*2*100/18 = 12X

6000 = 12X

X = 6000/12 = 500

Hence length of parallel sides = 7X , 5X = 7*500, 5*500

               = 3500 m , 2500 m
