In the above Question , the following information is given -

The arithmetic mean of 67 values is 35 .

Now , each of these values are multiplied by 4 .

To find -

We have to find the mean of the new values .

Solution -

Here ,

The arithmetic mean of 67 values is 35 .

So.

[ Sum Of 67 Values ] / [ 67 ] = 35

=> Sum of the 67 values -

=> 67 × 35

=>2345

Now ,

Each of the given Values are multiplied by 4 .

So ,

New Sum -

=> 4 × [ Sum of the 67 Values ]

=> 4 × 2345

=> 9380

So ,

The sum of the new 67 values is 9380

Now ,

New Mean -

=> [ New Sum ] / [ 67 ]

=> [ 9380 ] / [ 67 ]

=> 140 .

So, the mean of the new values is 140 .

This is the required answer.

\large\bf{\underline{\underline{Question}}}

The arithmetic mean of 67 values is 35; if each of these values is multiplied by 4, find the mean of the new values.

\large\bf{\underline{\underline{Solution:-}}}

→ We know,

Mean = Sum of observation / No. of observation

→ 35= ˣ1+ˣ2+ˣ3+.....ˣ67 /67

→ ˣ1+ˣ2+ˣ3+.....ˣ67=35×67

→ˣ1+ˣ2+ˣ3+.....ˣ67 = 2345

ACCORDING TO QUESTION

Each number is multiplied by 4

4ˣ1+4ˣ2+4ˣ3.....4ˣ67

4(ˣ1+ˣ2+ˣ3+.....ˣ67)

4×2345= 9380

New mean = 9380/67 = 140

\large\bf{\underline{\underline{Hence,}}}

New mean = 140
