The atomic number of a element is 26.Then what is the position of the element in periodic table?(explain the answer)

iron is the 26th element. it d block element . 8b group and 4 the period.

Atomic no. = 26

Electronic Configuration =

1S2, 2S2, 2P6 ,3S2, 3P6, 4S2 ,3d6

As the last shell comes in the d orbital, hence the element belongs to the Transition Block.
And the no. of Valence electrons in the last shell = 6, hence the element belongs to the 6th position in the transition block , that is 6+2 = 8th group.
And the last shell belongs to 3d orbital, hence the element belongs to 3rd Period.
