Answer:

The village fair is described majestically by author Mulk Raj Anand.

Explanation:

The village had footpaths full of throngs, converging to the whirlpool of the fair. It was a confusion that fascinated the child. In the beginning there is a sweetmeat seller that was selling gulab jamun, rasgulla, burfi  and jalebi. His counter was covered with many colored sweets which were decorated by leaves of silver and gold. There was a flower-seller who was selling a garland of gulmohar, his basket was heaped with flowers. There was the balloon seller who held a pole with yellow, green and purple balloons flying from it. The child was carried away by the rainbow glory of the balloon's colors. There was the snake charmer who stood playing the flute to a snake who coiled itself back into the basket. The snake raised its head un a graceful bend like the neck of the swan, the music went into its invisible ears like the gentle rippling of an invisible waterfall. Then finally there was the roundabout in full swing. Everyone who sat on it were carried away in a whirling motion, shrieked, cried with laughter. There was a thick  crowd in the fair, men jostled each other, heavy men with flashing murderous eyes and hefty shoulders moved around in the crowd.
