Being calm allows you more space to pause and think of your response rather than reacting from a different space. So your response is more likely to be perceived as polite…if that is what you are intending.
It’s because whenever you’re being angry, you’re not being calm. Anger seems to be rude to others especially aimed at them.
Staying calm and having kindness is a sign of being polite.
Definitely will be a good thing to do.
If you’re triggered, annoyed or stressed out, you’re more likely to talk faster or blurt out something you’ll eventually regret saying. Whether you mean it or not, it wasn’t supposed to come out. Which is why I try to stay calm whenever I’m any of those and I come out pretty soft.
