(X-2+y-2)/2=26. =)x+y=52+4=56. ……………(1)

X+5=40 (given)

X=35 ,putting in (1) we get y=21

C’s age=Y+5=21+5=26

A’s age=x=35, C’s age=26

Difference=9 years
