:. 5 yrs ago,

mother = m-5

son=s-5

:. average= 20

$\frac{m - 5 + s - 5}{2} = 20$

m + s - 10 = 40

m + s = 50 ____(1)

before 3 yrs

mother = m -3

father =f-3

son = s-3

:. average = 27

$\frac{m - 3 + f - 3 + s - 3}{3} = 27$

:. m+ f+ s -9 = 27×3

f+ m+ s= 81+9

f+ 50= 90 [ bcs. m+s = 50.... by (1)]

f= 40

hence present age of father is 40 yrs.
