Given :  The average age of a team of 15 employees is 36. The youngest of them is 20 years old and eldest of them is 56 years old. Two of them with average 28 leave the team. If one of the two comes back on the condition that he will be made team leader

To Find :  what could be the new average age

39

38

36

35

Solution:

The average age of a team of 15 employees is 36

=> Total age = 15 * 36  =  540

The youngest of them is 20 years old and eldest of them is 56 years old.

Two of them with average 28 leave the team

Age of them = 2* 28 = 56

Age can be     (20 , 36 ) , ( 21 , 25) , _________ (27 , 29) , (28 , 28 )

=> Total age = 540 - 56 = 484

   Total members = 15 - 2 = 13

one of the two comes back on the condition that he will be made team leader  Hence  Age can be between 20 and 36

Total age = 484 + 20  to 484 + 36

= 504    to 520

Members = 13 + 1 = 14

Average

504/14   to 520/14

= 36   or 37.14

In the given options only 36 satisfy this

Hence new average age  can be 36
