Correct Question:-

The average age of three boys is 25 years and their ages are in the proportion 3:5:7 the age of the youngest boy is:

Answer:- 15 years

To Find:-

  • The age of youngest boy .......(?)

Given,

  • The average age of the three boys are 25 years
  • Their ages are in the proportion of 3:5:7

Solution:-

Let the ages of the boys be 3x , 5x and 7x

⟹ 3x + 5x + 7x = 25 × 3

⟹ 8x + 7x = 75

⟹ 15x = 75

⟹ x = 75/15

⟹ x = 5

Now, The ages of the boys are:-

➦ 3x

= 3 × 5

= 15 years.

➦ 5x

= 5 × 5

= 25 years.

➦ 7x

= 7 × 5

= 35 years.

Therefore, 15 < 25 < 35

\sf \red{Required \: answer:-}

  • Therefore, The age of the youngest boy is 15 years.
