The average marks obtained by the students in a class are 43. if the average marks obtained by 25 boys are 40 and average marks obtained by the girl students are 48, then what is the number of girls students in the class ?​

◆ Explaination -

Let x be no of girls in class.

Average marks of whole class are determined by formula -

Average marks = (number of boys × avg marks of boys + number of girls × avg marks of girls) / (number of boys + number of girls)

Now substitute values,

43 = (25×40 + x×48) / (x+25)

43x + 1075 = 1000 + 48x

48x - 43x = 1075 - 1000

5x = 75

x = 15 girls

Therefore, no of girls in class must be 15.
