Question:-

  • The average marks of 30 boys of section A of class X is 60 whereas the average marks of 30 boys of section B of class X is 50. The average marks for both the sections combined together is

To Find:-

  • Find the average marks for both the sections combined together.

Solution:-

Given ,

  • The average marks of 30 boys of section A of class X is 60.

  • The average marks of 30 boys of section B of class X is 50.

First ,

We have to find the total marks of section A:-

\dashrightarrow\sf \: Average \: marks = \dfrac { Total \: marks } { Total students }

\dashrightarrow\sf \: Total \: marks = Average \: marks \times Total \: students

\dashrightarrow\sf \: Total \: marks = 60 \times 30

\dashrightarrow\sf \: Total \: marks = 1500

Now ,

We have to find the total marks of section B:-

\dashrightarrow\sf \: Average \: marks = \dfrac { Total \: marks } { Total students }

\dashrightarrow\sf \: Total \: marks = Average \: marks \times Total \: students

\dashrightarrow\sf \: Total \: marks = 50 \times 30

\dashrightarrow\sf \: Total \: marks = 1300

Now ,

We have to add the both sections marks:-

\dashrightarrow\sf \: Total \: marks = 1800 + 1500

\dashrightarrow\sf \: Total \: marks = 3300

Now ,

We have to find total students:-

\dashrightarrow\sf \: Total \: students = 30 + 30

\dashrightarrow\sf \: Total \: students = 60

Now ,

We have to find the average marks:-

\dashrightarrow\sf \: Average \: marks = \dfrac { 3300 } { 60 }

\dashrightarrow\sf \: Average \: marks = 55

Hence ,

  • Average marks for both sections together is 55.

Given:

  • The average marks of 30 boys of section A of class X is 60.
  • The average marks of 30 boys of section B of class X is 50.

To Find:

  • The average marks for both the sections combined together.

We know that:

  • Average marks = Total marks / Total students

In section A of class X:

  • Total students = 30
  • Average marks = 60

Finding the total marks:

→ 60 = Total marks / 30

→ Total marks = 1800

In section B of class X:

  • Total students = 30
  • Average marks = 50

Finding the total marks:

→ 50 = Total marks / 30

→ Total marks = 1500

When both the sections combined together:

  • Total students = 30 + 30 = 60
  • Total marks = 1800 + 1500 = 3300

Finding the average marks:

→ Average marks = 3300/60

→ Average marks = 55

Hence,

  • The average marks for both the sections combined together is 55.
