Given : The average of 100 numbers is 46, but it was found that 2 numbers 16 and 43 are mistakenly calculated  as 61 and 34

To Find : the correct average.

Solution:

The average of 100 numbers is 46

Hence total of 100 numbers  = Average * count of numbers

= 46 * 100

= 4600

16 and 43 are mistakenly calculated   as 61 and 34

Hence we need to subtract 61 & 34   from total

and need to add 16  & 43

Hence correct total  = 4600  - 61 - 34 + 16 + 43

= 4564

Average  = 4564/100

= 45.64

Rounded to one decimal

= 45.6

Hence 45.6 is correct answer
