Answer:

The average of 35 observations is 15 and the average of other 15 observations is 35. The average of all the observations is 21

Step-by-step explanation:

Average of 35 observations is 15

The equation for finding average  = Total sum of observations ÷ Number

                                                             of observations

In the first case,

Let 'x' be the total sum of observations and the number of observations is 35,

∴ 15 = x ÷ 35,

    x = 35 × 15 = 525

In the second case

Let 'y' be  the total sum of observations and the number of observations is 15,

∴ 35 = y ÷ 15

     y = 15×35 = 525

Average of all the observations = Total sum ÷ Total number

                                                     = ( x + y) ÷ (35 +15)

                                                      = 1050 ÷ 50

                                                       = 21

Therefore the average of all the observations is 21
