Let the numbers be x, y and z
Given that their average is 20
average is calculated by :-
sum of numbers/total number
=> average = (x + y + z)/3 = 20
=> (x + y + z) = 60
=> Sum of x, y and z is 60
Now these numbers are doubled
=> 2x, 2y and 2z
So sum of 2x + 2y + 2z
= 2(x + y + z) = 2(60)
=> 2x + 2y + 2z = 120
So average = (2x + 2y + 2z) /3
=> 120/3
= 40
Answer :- 40
Conclusion :-
If the numbers are doubled, then the average is also doubled.
