❍Let consider the three books prices be x rupees,y rupees and z rupees.

According to the question:

  • As per given in the question, the average price of three books are 16 .The price of two of the books is given by the following pairs. We are said to find correct pair.

Therefore,

 \: \: \sf \: \frac{x + y + z}{3} = 16

Transport 3 into RHS(Right Hand Side)

 \: \: \sf \: x + y + z = 16 \times 3 \\ \\ \: \: \sf \: x + y + z = 48

The total sum of the three books prices is 48 rupees. Therefore find correct pair from options given here:

 \: \sf \implies \: x + y < 48

(x + y is less than 48)

Now find from options

Option A

If we add 23 and 27

23 + 27 = 50

(50 > 48)

This option is incorrect.

Option B

If we add 20 and 23

20 + 23 = 43

(43 < 48)

This option is correct.

Option C

If we add 25 and 26

25+26 = 51

(51>48)

This option is incorrect.

Option D

If we add 24 and 25

24 + 25 = 49

(49>48)

This option is incorrect.
