Solution :

Let us assume that, the profit per rupee of the other goods of the store is x%.

now,

→ other goods on the sales = 60%.

So,

→ groceries on the sales = 100% - 60% = 40% .

then,

→ average profit on groceries + average profit on other goods = average profit of the store .

→ (profit per rupee for groceries * total groceries) + (profit per rupee in other goods * total other goods) = profit per rupee of the store.

putting all values we get,

→ (8% * 40%) + (x% * 60%) = 6%

since a% is equal to (a/100) ,

→ {(8/100) * (40/100)} + {(x/100) * (60/100)} = (6/100)

→ (320/10000) + (60x/10000) = (6/100)

→ (320 + 60x) / 10000 = (6/100)

→ 100(320 + 60x) = 6 * 10000

dividing both sides by 100,

→ 320 + 60x = 600

→ 60x = 600 - 320

→ 60x = 280

dividing both sides by 20,

→ 3x = 14

→ x = (14/3)

→ x = 4.66% (Option A) (Ans.)

Hence, the profit per rupee of the other goods of the store is 4.66% .
