The average weight of 9 mangoes increases by
20 g if one of them weighting 120 g is replaced by
1 another. The weight of the new mango is ?
|| ✰✰ ANSWER ✰✰ ||
Let initial average of 9 mangoes was = x gm
So,
→ Total weight of all mangoes = Average * Number of items
→ Total weight = 9 * x = 9x gm
Now, given that, a new mango was added in place of 120gm ,
So,
→ Total weight left now = (9x -120)gm .
A new mango was added and with this the average was increased by 20gm.
So,
→ new average = (x+20)gm .
Total New weight now,
→ (x+20)*9 = (9x + 180)gm .
So, weight of New item = (New Total weight) - (initial left weight)
→ weight of new mango = (9x+180) - (9x -120) = 9x +180 - 9x +120 = 300gm
Hence , weight of new mango added was 300gm .

❁❁ Shortcut ❁❁ :-
Since, a new mango was replaced with 120g weight mango and because of this average was increased by 20gm.
So, we can say that, The new mango Must me More weight than 120gm .
And, also, Due to This weight of all 9 mangos was increased by 20gm .
With This we can say that :-
☛ weight of New mango = (Replaced mango weight) + (Average increased) * Number of items .
☞ weight of new mango = 120 + (20 * 9)
☞ weight of New mango = 120 + 180
☞ weight of New mango = 300gm .
⛬ wight of New mango was 300gm..

Question :- The average weight of 9 mangoes increases by 20 g if one of them weighting 120 g is replaced by 1 another. The weight of the new mango is ?
Solution :-
Let the average of 9 mango is x
then total weight of 9 mango is = Average * 9 mango = 9x
now ,
according to Question :--
==>>> 9x-120 + y(weight of new mango) = (x+20)9
by solving this Equation ,
=> 9x -120 +y = 9x +180
=> y = 180 + 120
=> y = 300 g
