area of the triangle is 56cm
ratio of base and altitude is 7:4
then the base and altitude are

1/2*base*altitude = 56 cm

1/2*7x*4x = 56 (let base be 7x and altitude be 4x)
1/2* 28x^2 = 56
14x^2 = 56
x^2= 4
x = √4
x=2
so base is 7x = 7*2 =14
and altitude is 4x = 4*2 = 8
