ABCD be the parallelogram.

AM be the altitude corresponding to the base CD and CN be the altitude corresponding to the base AD.

It is given AM = 12 cm, CD = 10 cm and CN = 8 cm.

We know that area of parallelogram = base × corresponding height

∴ area of parallelogram ABCD = CD × AM

 = (10 × 12) cm2  ...(1)

Also, area of parallelogram ABCD = AD × CN

 = AD × 8 cm2  ...(2)

Equating (1) and (2)

10 × 12 = AD × 8

AD×8 =10×12

AD =120÷8
AD =15
Hence, length of the other pair of parallel side is 15 cm.
