210 cm²
Step-by-step explanation:
Q.
The base of a box has a perimeter 20 m and its height is 8 m. If the height is 3 m more than one of it base sides, find its surface area
Solution -
If height is 3 less than its base sides, so base sides will be 8 m - 3 m = 5m
Base's sides are length (l) and breadth (b).
Now,
l = 5 m
b = 5 m
h = 8 m
Surface area (T. S. A) = 2 (lb + bh + lh)
= 2 {(5×5) + (5×8) + (5×8)} m²
=> 2 (25 + 40 + 40) m²
=> 2(105) m²
=> 210 m²
Hence Surface area of box = 210 cm²
Note :-
Here,
T. S. A = Total Surface area
l = length
b = breadth
h = height
To remember :-
T. S. A of cuboid = 2 (lb + bh + lh)
C. S. A. of cuboid = 2(l + b)h
T. S. A. of cube = 6a²
L. S. A of cube = 4a²
hope it helps.
