QUESTION

The base of a prism is an equilateral triangle of perimeter 15 centimetres and its height is 5 centimetres. Calculate its volume.

ANSWER:-

perimeter of equilateral triangle = 15cm

one side of equilateral triangle

 \frac{15}{3} = 5cm

height of prism = 5cm

Base area =

 = \frac{ {3a}^{2} }{4} = \frac{ \sqrt{3 \: \\ \times 5 \times 5} }{4} = 6.25 \sqrt{3} \\ \\ = 6.25 \times 1.73 = 10.8125sq.cm

volume of the prism = base × height

= 10.8125 × 5 = 54.0625cu.cm
