The base of a right angled triangle is 8cm and hypotenuse is 17. what is its area

From Pythagoras theorem,
Height = √(hypotenuse^2)-(base^2)
= √(289 - 64) = √225 = 15.

Area of a triangle = base x height /2
Area = 8 x 15/2 = 60 cm^2.

Area of right angled triangle=1/2bh
=1/2×8×17
=4×17
=68cm^2
