the base of and isosceles triangle is 12cm and its perimeter is 32cm. Find its Area.

As the other two opposite sides are of equal length. Therefore length of the other two sides= (32-12) = 20 CM of both the sides

length of one of the opposite sides = 20/2 = 10cm

Now as area of a triangle is 1/2 x base x height

base - 12cm

height-?

Draw a line perpendicular to the base

Now by pythagoras method,

h^2 + 6^2 = 10^2

h^2 + 36 = 100

h^2 = 100-36

h^2 = 64

h = √64

h = 8 cm

Now find the area,

1/2 x 12 x 8 = 48cm^2
