Answer:

Robert Clive wanted a puppet ruler to become Nawab of Bengal, who would listen to britishers and in turn work for them not for Bengal. They could easily bribe MIR JAFAR by promising him to make him Nawab if he fights against Siraj ud Dulah.

Siraj ud daulah was concerned about the welfare of the state as at his time emperor at the centre was not strong, therefore he decided to fight against British to save the economy as they were indulged in fortification and expanding trade without paying duties and exploiting locals.

As it's said we have always been ruled because of internal weakness that lie in our people, therefore Robert Clive did politics and convinced Jafar for the throne of nawab. Therefore Mir jafar fought against nawab Siraj ud daulah, as a result  Siraj daulah had to run away , but later he was caught by his forces and killed,

This way britishers won their first ever Battle. which came to be known as "Battle of Plassey"

If I would have been in his place, I would have not cheated with who brought me and fed me. It is said you should never do injustice to the one who feeds you and give you an earning.Makes sense!
