The lost spring by Anees Jung is an excerpt from "Lost spring : stories of stolen childhood" . It deals with the absurd poverty and exploitation faced by working sections like the bangle makers and the rag pickers.

  • Firozabad is famous for its bangle industry . A major section of its population is involved in bangle making . "Bangles" are symbolic of an Indian woman's auspicious marriage . They are worn to adorn beauty . They also are symbolic of a colourful and happy Life .

  • But sadly , for those involved in making bangles - the workers lead a life of acute poverty with their life being full of miseries . Working in the dark dingy cells, they lose their eyesight at an early age. Also , they have no other option and hence carry the God Given Lineage. In a way , they've been captivated In a never ending vicious cycle that leads to nothing but poverty and exploitation .

★Anees Jung hence expresses her concern for these working people and the dire need to take the possible steps t to improve their lifestyles .
