The body wall of Hydra is diploblastic.

It has two layers.

These two layers are divided by gel-like element, which is called mesoglea.

The outer wall is epidermis and the inner layer is called the gastrodermis as it is positioned with the stomach.

Made with simple cells, these two layers house Hydermacin bactericide, which protects the outer layer from food infection.
