The boiling points of the components of air are as follows: Oxygen: -183, nitrogen: -196 and argon: -186. which of the gas will be separated first during fractional distillation.

The liquid air is allowed to warm up slowly in a fractional distillation column, where gases get separated at different heights depending upon their boiling points. The component with the highest boiling point gets collected at the bottom of the fractionating column.

Oxygen gas collects at the bottom of the column as its boiling point is -183 ∘C, whereas  Nitrogen boils at -196 ∘C and is collected at the top of the column. Argon boils off at -186∘C and is collected in the middle of the fractionating column. Hydrogen is not part of the air, hence it is not obtained on the fractional distillation of the air.
