The boys lifted the trophy amidst cheers and jubilation from the spectators. Not many had
expected this team from New Model High (NMH) to last that long in the 2006 Buchi Babu Memorial Tournament, much less win it. The farthest that a team from NMH had progressed in the tournament was till round sixteen and that was way back in 1996. This team, too, seemed doomed to repeat the mediocre performances of their predecessors. To add to this, there was the fact that the team lacked any match-winning batsman or bowler. What the team did have was a charismatic leader in Amit Shastri and a zeal to succeed. And these two factors proved to be the catalysts that pushed them farther and farther on the road to glory.
