his is a good question, however, it would be nice to have a little bit more detail to the scenario. At any rate, I'll give it a try.

It sounds as if there is more than one child present because the little boy said “we will not play with you.” Also, even if the other little children don't know any better, the little boy does know he is not supposed to play with strangers. It also sounds as if this stranger walked right up to these little children wanting them to play with him. Now, with all that clarified in my own mind, and I do hope my mental picture of what is going on is correct.

If a stranger walked up to that little boy and his friends or siblings, I would have no problem, whatsoever, having that little boy and his friends run away as fast as possible while screaming as loud as possible “we are not going to play with you!”

Some may think that might be a bit too much. But keep in mind, those little children are not their children.

If that response draws attention to those innocent little children and that stranger, then good. If that stranger doesn't have any ill will towards those children then he can simply explain why he approached the children. If the stranger is embarrassed or put out by the situation, too bad. He should not have approached them in the first place. Let's suppose this stranger was a bit lost and was simply hoping the children could tell him where the closest convenience store was…okay, innocent enough, but is it really? Why didn't the stranger go to someone's house and knock on the door and ask directions from an adult. Hmmmm. Why, indeed?

There is NOTHING more important than the safety and well-being of our children. I don't care what country we live in, we need to protect our children and teach them what to do when confronted by a stranger.
