Given :  Boy has two cubes but not necessarily same colors

but he needs 2 cubes of same color

Teacher has 3 cubes

Boy  needs two cubes of the same colour to play a game

To Find : the teacher draw the cubes without looking, what is the least number of cubes that need to be sure that boy can get two cubes of the same colour

Solution:

Every boy has  2 Cubes out of  3 cubes

There are 6 possible ways

( RR ) , ( BB) , ( GG)

( R G) , ( R B )  , ( B G )

in first three cases boy already have  two cubes of the same colour

in remaining three case there is chance that one cube selected in of 3rd color.

but in 2nd draw cube will be one of the remaining three color

Hence  teacher draw the cubes without looking, what is the least number of cubes that need to be sure = 2

Answer:

6

Step-by-step explanation:

Answer=6

For every boy to get 2 balls of same color, 2 red , 2 green and 2 blue  are to be picked.

If we pull out two balls, they may be of different colors i.e. one red , one blue ; one red, one green ; one blue , one green.

So  balls to be picked  > 2

Moreover, we know that there are 3 boys so we must have at least 6 balls for 3 boys. As two must be of same color,

2 *3 = 6
