Answer:

false

The internal organs located in the thoracic cavity like heart, lungs, liver, stomach etc are very delicate and hence are protected by bony rib cage to prevent any damage. The other internal organs like brain is protected by bony skull and spinal cord is protected by bony vertebral column and so on.

False, Brain is not protected by the rib cage.

Explanation:

  • The first protective layer is the skull or cranium, and meninges that contain three membranes. The brain is also protected by a fluid called cerebrospinal fluid.
  • Special cells in the four hollow spaces within the brain, called ventricles, produce this watery fluid. It flows in between meninges through the ventricles and in spaces.
  • The rib cage protects the heart and lungs. The rib cage consists of the 12 thoracic vertebrae and the 24 ribs, in addition to the sternum.
