The brakes applied to a car produce an acceleration of 10m/s^2 in the opposite direction to the motion. If it takes 5 seconds to stop after the application of brakes, then how much distance is covered by the car before coming to rest?

hey friend!!!!!
=>Acceleration = a = 10m/s2
=>Time = t = 5s
=> final velocity = 0m/s
let's initial velocity be "u"
let distance be "s"
we know that :
v = u+at
so
0 = u + (-10)(5)
u = 50m/s__________(1)
now
=> S = ut + 1/2(at2)
=> S = 50×5 + 1/2(-10)(25)
=> S = 250 -125
=> S = 125
thus distance travelled is "125m"
hope it will help you..
