conaisering it ia starting its journey from rest:-
u=0 , a=-2 , t=2s ,
applying 2 eqn of motion
s=ut + at²/2
s=0×2 + (-2)(4)/2
s=-4
hence the distance traveled can't be negative ,
s=4m
