The breadth of a rectangle is 3 cm less than
its length. If the area of the rectangle be 40
sq. cm, find its perimeter.​

now, b = l 3

area \: of \: rectangle \:  = l \times b \\

40 = l \times (l \:  - 3)

 {l}^{2}  - 3l \:  = 40

L = 8cm. (by trial and error method)

b = 8 - 3 = 5cm

perimeter = 2(l +b)

= 2(8+5) = 26cm
